From Left to Right: Barry M Nail Paint in Peach Melba, Modelsown Nail Polish in Top Turquoise, Barry M Nail Paint in Mint Green, Barry M Nail Paint in Bright Turquoise, Topshop Nail Point in Airplane
One of the biggest trends this spring for nails is pastels, not so groundbreaking really eh? So today I thought that I would share with you my favourite ones. The selection that I have chosen don't necessarily all quite fit into the 'pastel' section, but they all complement the feel of this trend.
Pastels are really great for packing a punch on your nails (none of the polishes that I have picked are too white toned), without the intensity that the brighter summer shades tend to have. They work really well with a lot of outfits since they are quite neutral colours. With monochrome set to be big for SS '13, I think that a really nice way to wear it would be with these colours as they add a 'pop' of colour.
Onto the review of these polishes, I thought that I would do it collectively because otherwise it may become boring. They all have great non-chippable formulas, especially when worn with a good top-coat. However, I have found that more coats are needed than other shades of polish because they are lighter colours. For me, this is not a problem because I love painting my nails, but if you wanted to do your nails quicker then I would suggest using a white coat underneath and then a coat of the colour on top. This really helps the colour to stand out as well because it isn't competing with your natural nail colour.
I think all of the shades are really pretty, especially Peach Melba and Mint Green. Topshop's Airplane is not necessarily a pastel in the strictest sense, but I think it serves well as a transition colour between Winter and Spring. (It's on my nails at the moment!)
I don't know about you cut I can't wait to bust out these colours once the weather gets a little warmer. What about you?
